Wordcraft International takes over development etc.

Wordcraft International has taken over all DryFire development, marketing, world-wide distribution and support.

Please click here to see the story of DryFire's original development.

Mike Lake, inventor of DryFire, Managing Director of The DryFire Corporation and Chairman of Wordcraft International said:

"I tried to retire from Wordcraft once before but I ended up inventing DryFire and setting up a new company. At that time I had no idea that DryFire would be such a success with thousands of users world-wide and now I think the time has come to try to retire again - I want to do some shooting!"

"Wordcraft was always in the background during DryFire's development and Nick Hickman, one of Wordcraft's Senior Software Designers, was responsible for all the heavy stuff - leaving me free to write the front end - the first software I had written for almost 30 years!"

"I am really pleased with the arrangement we have come to because Wordcraft has a team of superb software designers and a top-quality support team - things I have had to do myself over the last few years. Andrea Roach, Wordcraft's Managing Director, will look after world-wide distribution and marketing - a task I have neglected - to my shame."

"As Chairman of Wordcraft International I will still be around, though not so hands-on as I have been in the past. DryFire is still my baby and I am very proud of it - and amazed at its huge success. I know the sort of products and services that the team at Wordcraft can provide and I have absolutely no doubt that DryFire will progress in leaps and bounds in their hands."

New software and a new web site

Wordcraft is developing a new web site and new software (Version 4) for DryFire. There will be no change to the DryFire hardware.

The new software will work with existing Version 3 simulators and will be very similar to the existing system but with new features and a much more stylish user interface ("because they are better at writing software than I am." Mike.)

Existing DryFire users will be able to download the new software free of charge.

We want to be sure that the web site and the software meet the needs of potential DryFire users and existing users.

We need volunteers to test things

If you are willing to look at the new web site, and try out the new software, please contact Tim Kirkland, Wordcraft's General Manager. Tim is looking after our Beta test programme and he and his colleagues will be very grateful for your comments - positive and negative.

Please send an email directly to Tim if you would like to help.

Tim's email address is in the form of an image to help prevent spam.

Beat the price rise

DryFire prices have not risen for the last eight years - but our costs have risen considerably.

When Version 4 of the software is released (see above) our prices will go up:

  • The single head unit will rise from 490.00 (GBP) to 540.00 (GBP). This is a 10% rise.
  • The dual head unit will rise from 690.00 (GBP) to 740.00 (GBP). This is a 7% rise.
  • The dual had unit is therefore even better value for money - and you see both clays at the same time for simultaneous doubles/pairs.
  • Sales within the European Union are subject to Value Added Tax at 20%.

We will hold our existing prices until a final announcement appears on this site.
