Installing USB drivers in case of problems with Vista or Windows 7
For reasons known only to itself Windows sometimes does not like installing USB drivers but this procedure should sort it out.
- Do not plug in the simulator until you have installed the DryFire software from the CD. This is very important.
- After the software is installed you can plug in the simulator and Windows should ask for the driver location - which will be the "usb-drivers/vista" sub-folder under wherever you installed DryFire.
- If things do not work out please follow this procedure and see the screen grabs below:
- Ensure that the DryFire software is installed and the simulator is plugged in. (It will nod the camera head(s) if it is connected via USB and it has power.)
- Load Windows Control Panel (from the Windows Start button - bottom left of screen.)
- Click on "Device Manager" within the Control Panel - this will list all the devices on your computer.
- If the simulator is plugged in you should find "DryFire Simulator" listed under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" or under "Other Devices".
- Right click on "DryFire Simulator" and select "Update Driver Software".
- Click on "Browse my computer for driver software" in the window that pops up.
- In the next window click on "Browse" and locate the "usb-drivers/vista" sub-folder under wherever you installed DryFire.
- Click on "Next".
- Windows may display a warning message so click on "Install this driver anyway".
- Please wait while the driver is installed and you get a confirmation message.
- Close the various windows and run the DryFire software from the icon on your desktop.
Control Panel - click on "View by" and then "Large icons."
Control Panel - select "Device Manager."
Device Manager - check under "Other devices" and "Universal Serial Bus controllers."
Right click on "DryFire Simulator."
Update - select "Browse my computer for driver software."
Update - select the "Browse" button and locate the USB drivers under the DryFire folder.
If Windows shows a warning message select "Install this driver anyway."
